Windows 7 RC User Profile Service Failed the Logon

I upgraded my laptop the other day to use Windows 7 RC. I am really liking the speed improvements and the windows virtual pc that it comes with. Dont forget to enable virtualization on your microprocessor in your computer's bios settings if you want to use windows virtual pc.

The other day after the upgrade I was not able to log into my account. I got an message User Profile Service Failed the Logon. The error was caused by a messed up registry key for the user profile for my account. Well I was able to boot into safe mode and follow the instructions in this post in the Windows Vista Forums and fix the problem.

Im having the same issue. New users cannot login and an admin can login, but the profile isnt loaded (even if its there). Also, a reboot fixes it for about 30 minutes.Im going to try the in-place upgrade and see what happens. I already tried to copy the default user profile from a known good machine, no go.

No can do, after 14+ hours wasted I installed another OS from scratch. Backups succeeded and restores succeeded but they wouldn't boot to a usable state after restore. I never had issues restoring XP but I've been burnt twice now with Vista (both 32 and 64) so I can't trust WHS for D.R. any longer. Maybe it'll be more reliable for Windows 7 but I've had too many issues with Vista......
